Workpapers Help
Open an Existing Workpaper
You can open a workpaper from the Workpapers grid either for editing or viewing.
Open for Editing
When you open an existing workpaper to edit it, even if you choose to open or save the workpaper locally, the workpaper is automatically checked out of the system, and only you can edit it. Checked Out appears in the Last Modified column, and the name in the Last Modified By column appears in red. The icon appears in the Access column.
To open a workpaper for editing, use one of the following:
- Workpaper Name Column: In the Workpapers grid, locate the workpaper, and then select the name under Workpaper Name.
Some browsers automatically start the download of the workpaper. If an additional pop-up appears, select Open to open the workpaper, or select Save to save the workpaper to your computer.
- Access Column: In the Workpapers grid, locate the workpaper, select the Access column down arrow, and then select Open.
.
Open provides the same behavior as using the Workpaper Name column. See Open for Viewing (Read-Only) for information about Open Read-Only.
Open for Viewing (Read-Only)
When you open a read-only workpaper:
- All Set functions are disabled, but you can still execute Get functions.
- If you manually change a Set function and try to execute it, the following message appears in the formula cell: #Formula Disabled#.
- The file name includes Read Only.
Workpapers allows you to open two types of workpapers for viewing-only:
- Workpapers That Are Checked Out (The
icon appears in the Access column)
- Workpapers That Are Not Checked Out
Workpapers That Are Checked Out
To open a workpaper that is already checked out, using one of the following:
- Workpaper Name Column: In the Workpapers grid, locate the workpaper, and then select the name under Workpaper Name.
This method automatically gives you a read-only version of the workpaper.
- Access Column: In the Workpapers grid, locate the workpaper, select the Access column down arrow, and then select Open Read-Only.
Workpapers That Are Not Checked Out
You can open read-only versions of workpapers that are not checked out. This allows you to review workpapers and not prevent others from checking them out.
In the Workpapers grid, locate the workpaper, select the Access column down arrow, and then select Open Read-Only.
